Syntetic report about VMs and jobs

Post by marius roma »

I need to produce a syntetic report for all the backup jobs listing, for each job, the VMs processed by the job and the schedule.
The problem is that jobs are not cofngured by VM names because:
VMs are grouped by function in VMware folders (let's say there is an "Accounting" folder including VM1, VM2 and VM3).
A typical job performs the backup of the "Accounting" folder
How can I produce a simple table saying that Job_Accounting includes VM1, VM2 and VM3 and is executed every day at 22:45 while Job_HR includes VM4, VM5 and VM6 and is executed every day at 0:15?
Is there any standard report I can customize?

Hello Mario,
There is Job Configuration Dump report showing configuration of the jobs, including source objects and schedule. And Job History report shows historical data of jobs runs including lists of backed up VMs.
You may also be interested in Protected VMs Job Schedule report which publishes the timetable for scheduled backup, replication and backup copy jobs.
Is that what you are looking for?
Thanks!

Let me re-open this topic.
I made some tests with the suggested reports but I am still unable to get the list I need.
Should I build a custom report?
Is there any sample I can start from?

Mario,
Could you specify the requirement?
How can I produce a simple table saying that Job_Accounting includes VM1, VM2 and VM3 and is executed every day at 22:45 while Job_HR includes VM4, VM5 and VM6 and is executed every day at 0:15?
Job History report shows which VMs were backed up. And Job Configuration report shows how it's configured.
That can be combined with report builder.
Thanks
