VM backup size in Backup and Replication

Post by jamcool »

We are replacing IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager with Veeam and one of the reports my boss wants to see if how much each VM is taking up in the Repository (disk space). I am new (just added Veeam One to Veeam Backup and Replication Enterprise) to Veeam One. I went through the Veeam built in reports and they seemed focus on giving me information on the cluster, job and repository but not the individual VMs. Our backup jobs are by cluster not individual VMs. Any help would be appreciated. I am on 9.5 update 4a.

Hello,
as I only know that request for billing reasons, could the backup billing report maybe be helpful for you?

Best regards,
Hannes

Hello Jason,
Are you looking for information how much space backups of each VM take on particular repository or overall on all repositories and tapes?
I would suggest checking Backup Billing report.
Also you can find the info in Backup Infrastructure Custom Data report.
Thanks!

Yes. I would like to know how much each VM is taking up in the repository. Our backup job is for entire VMWARE cluster with a few exclusions. The info in Backup Infrastructure Custom Data report I can seem to find shows me the size of the VM in VMWARE, number of backups and the size of the repository but not how much the individual VM and it's number of backups is taking up.

Hello Jason,
Since you have backup job for the entire cluster, are your VMs backed up each in a separate file or in one file?
Thanks

Since VMs are backed up to one file it's impossible to find out size of a single VM's backups due to deduplicaion of datablocks.
