Backup for SQL Always On 2012
It was great news that the Veeam Agent for Windows it now supporting SQL Always on.
I would like to give this a try but the information on this in the user guide is nearing zero.
I have a B&R Server which will manage the backup Job.
The two SQL nodes are already members of their own protection group (Agent + CBT installed)
If possible I would like to do
- Transaction Log Backup every 30 minutes
- Incremental Backup every 4 hours
- Full Backup once per day at midnight.
How can I achieve this?

Update:
I tried to backup but the job will fail immediately with the message that both hosts are not part of failover cluster which they are.

Found the solution
Above option has to be left unselected then discovery of the cluster nodes will work.

Hi Aschalk,
It seems a bit strange to me that this setting did the trick. In the end, I assume that your SQL server is running and is not offline.
I know it works now, but it would be great if you could create a support call for this with the explanation. It feels to me like something is not correct here. Post the support case ID here and let us know the outcome after investigation of the engineers.
Again, I can be mistaken but it seems to make no sense to me.
I am looking at the same time through the documentation, and I think you are right. There is limited information so I will discuss this with the PM for VAW and see if we can improve it from our side.
Last but not least, seeing the options above, those SQL boxes are physical right?

Hey Mike,
Thanks for our answers.
Yep, seems strange because this cluster is in use 24/7. I will submit a support call.
You are correct, both nodes are physical.

Hello Kn0rki,
Thank you for your post! Indeed, Cluster Account should be added via Active Directory protection group instead of standalone nodes (otherwise it’s impossible to configure failover cluster job).
