Backup laptops / Restorepoints
Hi,
Is there a way to congigure Veeam Backup and replication, With backup mode Workstation, Managed by Agent, for full backup?
The current issue, We use this backup solution to backup all the laptops. It only backups the laptop when you are in the office. So If I select Create full backup on Monday, and if you work at home on Monday, there will never be a full backup after the 1st one.
So I would like to have an option when in the Office (Not connected with VPN) create full, If the person is in the whole week Ill would like to have 1 full and then difference backup. then new week same.
If person is in for 1 a week, That day in the office a Full backup.
At this moment it is unknown when people are in the office.
Thanks for the help

Hi Daag,
Currently, you cannot run the missed Active full automatically on another day, so the easiest workaround is to schedule manager.exe /activefull with Windows Task Scheduler.
Did you consider working with synthetic full in future? There's a detailed description for this case.
Thanks!

Hi Natalia,
When synthetic full is configured, does it need to have a connection to the Source Laptop?
So I can plan it when nobody is working.
Thanks,

Hi Daag,
My bad, you'll still need a connection to run the scheduled full. So the easiest way is just to run full manually or schedule it with Windows Task Scheduler.
Thanks!

Re: Backup laptops / Restorepoints
Hi Natalia,
So when I do Windows Task Scheduler it will also backup when VPN is active. This is what I don't want because Home internet speed is slow for the most people.
So there is no solution or this?
Thanks,

Re: Backup laptops / Restorepoints
Daag,
I think I'm a little bit confused with the policy configuration you describe. Could you please share some more details?
Just to make sure I understood your case correctly - you back up the laptops regularly (daily/weekly/with some other schedule) and have configured your Backup policy to run Active full each Monday. Right?
Do you have "when backup target is connected" checkbox activated?
Speaking of internet speed, the synthetic full is created on the repository side, so it should take less resources on source.
Thanks!

Re: Backup laptops / Restorepoints
Hi Natalia,
Backup is daily only when in the office. This is working for 1 full and then differentials.
But I would like to have max 2 weeks (2x full) backups available for restore. The differentials only extra if they are more in the office.
I made some screenshots to make it visable

Job Settings
Thanks

Hello d.van.der.meer,
Thank you for the screenshots!
Thank you for the screenshots!
Unfortunately we do no have such option, noted as improvement request, thank you!It only backups the laptop when you are in the office. So If I select Create full backup on Monday, and if you work at home on Monday, there will never be a full backup after the 1st one.
Mind me asking what VPN provider you are using? So I would like to have an option when in the Office (Not connected with VPN) create full, If the person is in the whole week Ill would like to have 1 full and then difference backup. then new week same.

Re: Backup laptops / Restorepoints
Windows VPN. No 3td party solution.
So the VPN option is working. When connected with VPN, there won't be backup taken.
