Greetings,
I have my lab with 5 physical computers (all W10 64bit), one acting as my VBR CE server. Agents are installed on the machines and locally configured. Now I am running into the issue that my backups arent running anymore. One clioent (agent 5.0.3.4708) drops the error "04.10.2022 00:03:07 :: Error: Your license has expired, and your grace period is over. To continue using the product, obtain a new license." Another client (same version) drops "03.10.2022 23:32:44 :: Error: Not enough licenses on backup server."
My VBR Server (11.0.0.837) says I have a valid licence, 10 instances (0 used). "Allow unlicensed agents to consume instances" is ticked and greyed out.
I am stuck and do not know anymore what to do. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Johannes

Re: CE: Licensing issues
Hi Johannes
It seems, that your agents were licensed before with a VUL which has now expired and instead you want to use the community edition?
You can try to revoke the old license in the agent:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=50
I also suggest to manage the agents within a protection group and let your VBR server manage the backup policies:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
If that doesn't help, we need a support case ID for this issue, as requested when you click New Topic.
Without case number, the topic will eventually be deleted by moderators.

Re: CE: Licensing issues
Hi Fabian,
thanks for your reply. I have always used free licenses, for the lab I never needed more. But I will double check in the evening just to be sure.
I´ll file a case if this is needed.
@Protection Group:
The clients are all standalone, and (intentionally) not joined to a domain. Does a protection group makes sense here too?
Thanks
Johannes

Re: CE: Licensing issues
Hi Johannes
If I have a VBR Server and Veeam Agents, I always prefer managing them completely from the VBR console.
This makes updating the agent and managing backup jobs/policies really easy.
You can do that with domain joined machines or with standalone machines.
Thanks
Fabian

OK, thanks for the update. I will give it a try. Maybe that solves my initial problem too.
