Local and then to Azure

Post by Jezza »

Hi,

Traditionally we have been backing up VM's locally to a backup server and then these files to tape. We would like to start backing up locally and then off to Azure and could do with some advice please.

I've seen a few posts about scale out repositories and wondered if this is the way to go, or even backup like usual and then backup copy job to Azure.

Any pros or cons for either of these or something else if I've missed the supported or better to way to go.

Thanks in advance

Have u looked at using Cloud Tier with Azure Blob storage as an option?

Backup copy jobs will work as well but in terms of costs, Azure Blob will be cheaper.

On a side note, I would recommend taking a look at one of our VCSPs (service providers) for a cloud storage option. Might be easier to set everything up and get additional value from their services.
