PowerShell Reporting for Managed Agents

Post by poulpreben »

Hi,

We recently migrated a heap of Windows agents to being manged by VBR with the new capabilities available in 9.5 Update 3.

Previously, we had some standalone agents pointing to a repository, and we were able to report on the last backup status using roughly the following command:

Code: Select all

Get-VBREPJob | Select Name, LastResult
After migrating the agents to a Protection Group, and adding the PG to a new "Agent Backup Job", the backups no longer show up under neither "Get-VBRJob", or "Get-VBREPJob".

Is this a bug, or is it expected behaviour?

Thanks,
Preben.

Matthias Mehrtens has better eyes than me.

Helpcenter wrote:Currently Veeam PowerShell does not allow you to manage jobs that were created using Veeam Agent management functionality. You can do it only with Veeam Backup & Replication UI.
Are there plans for adding this in a future release?

Hi Preben.

Yup. We had to postpone full PS support for agent functionality but it planned for the upcoming version. Cheers!

Magnus,

That's right, full PS coverage will become available with U4. Unfortunately I cant give you ETA at this point in time. Cheers!

Hello and welcome to the community Tony,

Can you please elaborate what PowerShell cmdlets are missing in your opinion? We've added Veeam Agent Management Backup Jobs to create and modify agent jobs, Veeam Agent Management Protection Scope to protection groups to Veeam Backup & Replication and manage them and much more.

Please check the PowerShell guide for the full list of available cmdlets.

Thanks!

Did the ability to report on the status (via Powershell) of the Managed Veeam Agent get added to PS? We are migrating to Veeam and although I can figure out how to report on the Remote Agent I can't see how to report on the Managed agent.

Hi,

Yes, please check the output of Get-VBRDiscoveredComputer cmdlet. I believe, State and AgentStatus properties are the ones you are looking for.

Thanks,
Oleg
