Backup to tape keeps failing

Post by jensve »

Hello,

We are running veeam backup & replication 7.0 version 7.0.0.690. One time a week there runs a backup to tape job for a few VM's.
In the begin the jobs ran without any errors and now sometimes it is succesfull but most of the times the job fails.

If I run the job manually it completes without any errors, but in the schedule it always fails the last couple of weeks.

This are the errors from veeam report:

Code: Select all

Task D:\Veeam Backups\Backup_AD01\Backup_AD012015-06-18T090039.vbk failed: Terminated
EndSessionTape failed Client error: Tape session is not opened.
Job has failed. See logs for details.

Possible reasons are heavy load, networking issue, server reboot, or hot backup. Please wait, and try again later. Error information: Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression. The statement has been terminated.

This last one is from this week and is the first time we got this error. I just started the job manually and it's running at the time, but the job started yesterday morning and have been running for 23h and then fails.

Any idea's?

Kind regards

You're running RTM version of VB&R 7.0 that has the very first implementation of our tape support, a lot has been revised since that time: many issues have been fixed, many enhancements and improvements have been added.

So, as first step can you kindly update to the latest product version and see whether the issue persists?

Thanks.

That was my first thought aswell and we are going to do, but at the same time we didn't had any issues in the begin with the back up to tape job.

I'm not saying that it is necessarily related to the obsolete version: it might be or might not be. However, updating to the latest version will allow us to disregard a lot of potential suspects, separating the wheat from the chaff. Thanks.

We finally could upgrade to the newest version. I put a tape in it and erased it to be sure it was empty, but again we received the same errors.
Any thoughts?

I think it's time for you to open a support ticket, letting support team analyze provided logs and find out the root cause of the experienced behaviour. Thanks.
