Backup to tape skipping virtual full backup

Post by wim17 » Dec 27, 2017 8:32 am

I have a question about the scheduler from backup to tape jobs. My clients want 5 tape jobs a week. 1 full in the weekend and 4 incrementals from Monday to Thursday.

My backup to disk jobs all run forever incremental (with an active full once every 3 months). I made a backup to tape job and it starts on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday on 23:00. I told under full backup that I wanted a full on Saturday.

To weeks ago I started to run with this schedule and it made a full on Saturday (first job). Rest of the days were incrementals. Last weekend (second weekend) Veeam didn't make a full backup to tape, it just copied the vib to tape.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Hello wim17,

Virtual Full Backup works only for forever forward incremental source jobs. In case source job has scheduled synthetic or active full backup this option will be ignored.
