Hey,

i want to backup Windows files to tape. When the compression is enabled veeam doesn´t shrink the files.
We use A LTO 5 Tape loader and Windows Server 2008 R2.
When could be the cause?

Hi Sascha and welcome to the community!
Could you tell us more about files you are copying? Which formats/sizes are there?
Thanks!

Since you're using files to tape job, there is no compression coming from veeam backup and replication. The only option you have is to leverage compression provided by your tape device.

Kindly, check whether your device has this functionality and whether the hardware compression option is enabled in the tape job settings.

Thanks.
