Backups to Tape

Post by gingerdazza »

We already have HP Data Protector, and I'm wondering whether we should simply run a flat file backup of the Veeam repositories to tape via HP DP, as opposed to having Files To Tape jobs in Veeam doing it.

Is there any particular advantages to each method? Is it just nicer to be able to manage backups/restores from within Veeam?

Thanks

What VB&R edition you're comparing HP Data Protector with?

In case of Enterprise (and higher) editions you'll have a backup to tape jobs. With such jobs you will know on which tape medias particular VMs reside on, what medias are required in order to restore certain VM, etc. More visibility inside backup data, in other words.

Thanks.
