Connecting a tape drive to a hyper v cluster host
Hi, I have been asked to introduce tape backup but due to the limitations of the backup server I was thinking of adding a SAS card to one of the hyper v host servers and connecting the tape drive there. Has anyone done this where the virtual machines running on a hyper v cluster also have one of the hosts with a tape drive attached and usable by Veeam? i.e. one of the hosts is also the tape server.

Re: Connecting a tape drive to a hyper v cluster host
Hello,
Best regards,
Hannes
Google tells me, that there is no passthrough for tapes in Hyper-V. So that's not an option.virtual machines running on a hyper v cluster also have one of the hosts with a tape drive attached
I would avoid connecting anything to a hypervisor host. It might even work, but it sounds like a bad practice.i.e. one of the hosts is also the tape server.
Best regards,
Hannes
