[Feature Request] Copy Job to tape Job
Dear Veeam,
We are backuping our datacenter first local in the datacenter. Then with Copy Job to our location. And then to tape.
What we like to do, because after copy job, you need a scheduled job to do the backup.
Because the different time how long the copy job is busy, I need to schedule the backup 2 tape more then 3 hours later then it finish normal.
Kind regards,
Daag van der Meer

Hello dvandermeer.
Can you please clarify the request? Looks like you want to either start tape job right after copy job, is that correct? Thanks.

Thats right.
Like a normal backup to disk, there you can run a job to tape when finished.

I'm sure I asked for something similar but the basic response was, a copy job is an "always running" task so it never ends as such, so can't trigger another job after it "completes" because it'll always still be running (waiting).

Just to be more precise - backup copy job actually can trigger post-job activity. But it does so once the synchronization interval expires. Thanks.

Ah, understood, but still wouldn't really help in the scenario here. Heck I'd add my vote to a "post sync task" feature request.

If backup to tape job is meant here, can you tell me why "as backup files appear" schedule option does not work for you? Thanks.Like a normal backup to disk, there you can run a job to tape when finished.

Re: [Feature Request] Copy Job to tape Job
Not sure who your question was aimed at but from my perspective I wasn't actually aware of that option (is it a recent addition?) but even if I was, I think the I/O hit would be pretty bad if I was doing per-VM backups and VM1 was being spooled to tape from the same storage as VM2 is being written to the same spindles?
To be fair, this is another good scenario/argument for a small-ish SSD storage as first-level backups as it shouldn't suffer from such issues.
