Just a weird scenario I kind of want to play with as I'm not quite sure what the behavior is, and I don't want to wait 2 weeks to find out
Let's say that for whatever reason I had the following GFS settings for Tape:
Daily: Protect for 14 days (Appending to same tape)
Weekly: Protect for 1 week (New Mediaset for each interval, one tape Tape A)
Code: Select all
Daily
[ Week 1 ] [ Week 2 ] [ Week 3 ]
Su M T W T F S Su M T W T F S Su M T W T F S
i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i
Weekly
Su M T W T F S Su M T W T F S Su M T W T F S
Fw1 Fw2 Fw3 Fw4
If I get it right, once we hit Friday on Week 1, the Fw from Week 1 will be eligible for overwrite, correct? Let's say my timing is perfect and we cycle the same tape.
Does that mean the increments for Daily from Week1 are forfeit in this set up as soon as Fw2 overwrites the original? '
Or does Veeam do something to try to ensure the Daily increments that still should be protected remain valid?
Edit: Fixed my scenario as I had a logical issue by putting the first full in the Daily pool, I mean the current issue where Fulls go to Weekly, and only increments are in Daily.
(PS I really hope that ascii lineup shows correctly for everyone I spent too much time formatting it)
