Failed to eject Tape. Error: Timed out waiting for tape drive lock
I have been experiencing similar issues with my tape backups.
It seems like I cannot eject a tape and have to restart the Veeam Backup Server.
Even when the server is restarted, Veeam will still say "Waiting for a tape" even though there are plenty of free tapes.
I try to eject a tape or even try to run a tape inventory and get the following error:
"Failed to eject Tape. Error: Timed out waiting for tape drive lock"
This has only started happening this weekend. I have updated to 9.5 u4a for over a month now and have .NET 4.7.2
Only difference is that I have put in some brand new tapes this time.
I have logged a case with Veeam Support - Case # 03643338
Thanks
Dan

Re: Failed to eject Tape. Error: Timed out waiting for tape drive lock
I put in some tapes which backed up successfully last month. These backed up without any issues over the weekend.
I was told by Veeam Support that the problem was due to a bug in Veeam B&R 9.5 Update 4 where:
It seems like the drive mapped with bar-code ending with LU are getting mapped as WORM tapes.
Veeam Support has advised to solate the issue, It will be great if you can remove one of those tapes and re bar-code them and see if the Veeam still recognizing it as WORM.
Is this a known issue and if there is a fix for this bug or some confirmation from Veeam?
Thanks
Dan

Known issue, re-labeling tape should solve the issue. Thanks!

Thanks, but will there be a fix or update to resolve this issue? I had no issues previously.

Re: Failed to eject Tape. Error: Timed out waiting for tape drive lock
Because previously there has been no support for WORM media. Currently, we cannot comment on our future plans, so for now consider re-labeling tapes.
