Feature Request: GFS Yearly Day/Month Selection

We are just getting started with Veeam Tape backup and I noticed I can't select a specific day of the week and month for the Yearly backup. Our Yearly backup is done in March so our departments have time to make sure everything is in order and all the numbers come out correctly for the year. While I can pick a date and month to do the Yearly backup, I don't want the other GFS backups (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly) to run in the same week as the yearly. Having the option to pick the month for a Yearly backup, as well as the day of the week, would allow more flexibility to the software and tape backups.

If you want for a GFS tape job to create Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly on different weeks, why not to set the schedule the following way:

M -> Day of the week: 1st Sunday
Q -> Day of the week: 2nd Sunday
Y -> Day of the week: 3rd Sunday

OR

Code: Select all

M -> Day of the month: 1
Q -> Day of the month: 8
Y -> Day of the month: 15

You won't be able to avoid creation of weekly and other gfs restore points within the same week, because weekly point does get created every week.

The tapes need to do their backup on Monday so we can pull them on Tuesday and they get sent off site on Wednesday. So selecting a Day of the month will not work. The issue I have is when I do a Day of the week for Yearly, it will only do that in January when I need it to be done in March. Everything else about the GFS is fine.

Hmm, yep, in this case the only thing I can suggest to you is the following one:

Code: Select all

M -> Day of the week: 1st Monday
Q -> Day of the week: 2nd Monday
Y -> Day of the year: Whatever is the number of 3rd Monday; March

The last one has to be set manually once a year.

We did think about the manual method, but it would be a temporary solution at best since it can be easily missed or forgotten.

It's not that old, actually. There have not been any new product releases since that time.
