Feature request: NetApp NDMP support

Interestingly in the 9.5 Storage User Guide ( https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_9_5_ ... ide_pg.pdf ) at the first section on Page 190 - It specifically mentions using NDMP.

"If neither FlexClone nor SnapRestore license is installed, Veeam Backup & Replication uses the NDMP protocol. If the NDMP protocol is not enabled, VM data restore will fail."

Can anyone shed some light on this?

NDMP support for backing up NetApp volumes (NFS & FC) to tape libraries would be a big win for us, and allow us to get rid of a NetBackup appliance!

NetApp FAS8200 to Quantum Scalar i80 (LTO 5 & LTO 6), using Fibre Channel.

May I ask if you tape device is currently connected to Netapp storage via FC (or you use FC connection to the tape server role and pull the data from Netapp storage over network)? Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster.

We have an Oracle 7000-series unit with NDMPv4 support. Like many here we desperately need support for NDMP backups to disk and then to tape. We have a mix of LUNs and NFS, so LUN-support is critical.

Kindly update us as to the likelyhood that this feature will be added in an update. We are holding onto Commvault for only this backup type!

What product update you're currently at? We've added NDMP support in Update 4:

• Backup and restore your NAS volumes to tape with native support for NDMP v4. Just like File to Tape jobs, there are no additional charges per protected data size, however access to this functionality requires the Enterprise Plus edition

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone confirm that you can do NDMP to disk (incremental) and then full backup to Tape (on the Hyper-V edition if that matters)?

Hello Owen,

Veeam B&R does not support NDMP backup to disk. Instead, you can do direct NDMP backup from your filer to tape media. Cheers!
