Feature Request: tape job email notification media set information

Post by Russbordino »

Dear Veeam team,

When a tape job for a standalone tape drive requests a GFS tape from a media pool, there is no specific information available to anyone except a Backup Administrator with access to the management console to review the job session in the management console, who can then see from which Media Set a tape is required.

As we have 20 servers in remote offices where a non IT member of staff changes tapes daily, this frequently results in either tape backup no longer functioning for periods of time if a tape is missed. Or overhead of a user contacting IT, admin having to review the logs and contact user to change tapes (such as after Easter and 20 sites contacting us).

I would like to suggest a change to the email notification to include the specific media set from which a tape is required.

For example, the current email is:
Subject: [Warning] Insert a tape to continue
Body: Job Server1 Backup to Tape Job requires a tape to be added to media pool Server1 GFS Media Pool (Library: Server1-LTO6). See the corresponding job session in the management console for details.

If this email included the media set required Daily/Weekly/Monthly, the issue could be immediately resolved by the non IT member of staff on site. At the very least, the
line from the job session in the management console would help as they can see the previous tapes used and resolve the issue themselves.

"Add tape to media pool Server1 GFS Media Pool (Server1-LTO6 (Server1)). Oldest retained tape: AT-Thursday2. Last written tape: AT-Thursday3"

Thanks
