Good evening, dear data hoarders,
I am evaluating Veeam B&R 12.1.1.56 tape functionality. I have put some larger files on tape, and all looks well. Now, I am doing a File from Tape Restore, but I am not seeing any progress indicators such as:
- Progress bar
- Speed in MB/s
- Amount of data restored
- Amount of data that still needs to be restored
- Approximate time until the restore is complete
- etc.
See screenshots attached.
Is this a bug? Or does Veeam not display any progress while restoring, and if so, why?
Best Regards,
M

Re: File from Tape Restore. Not possible to see progress?
Hi DataDefender
I see no progress bar as well.
But it's not a bug, a progress bar was just not implemented for this kind of restore.
Are you planning todo this kind of restore from tape often? If so, I suggest you do your own estimation for now.
Restore a big file and take notes how long it takes. This should give you a "How many GB/per minutes" estimation.
Best,
Fabian

Re: File from Tape Restore. Not possible to see progress?
Hey Fabian,
No, these kinds of restores will not be happening often. However, I was a bit puzzled as to why the "minimalistic" restore UI, as Veeam normally is very verbose and includes some nice throughput graphs, etc.
Thanks for your answer,
DD
