file to tape retention

Post by HannibalK1ng »

I have been using Veeam and tape backup for a few years with no issues.

one job I have is files to tape with a retention time of 4 weeks.

I have now been asked to do an additional 4 quarterly backups a year of the same data.

I have GFS setup on my normal vmware backup, but not sure what's the best way to modify the above job.....

or is it best to create a separate job?

thanks!

Hello Andrew

Does your File to Tape job write your VMware backups to tapes?
If so, I recommend to use a backup to tape job with a GFS media pool. This will allow you to write your VMware backups on a weekly and quarterly schedule with a single job to tape.

Best,
