Generating a specific backup tape report?
We are looking at modifying our 7 year retention policy and would like to ONLY keep monthly tapes instead of weekly tapes.
Is there a way in Veeam B&R or Enterprise Manager that we can select MULTIPLE restore points when doing a restore, to see what tapes are needed so we can pull those tapes and destroy the rest? Currently, it seems that you can only select one restore point, which means that we would need to repeat the process for many servers one restore point at a time. No GFS is configured.
Any suggestions to accomplish what we are trying to do?

Re: Generating a specific backup tape report?
Hello,
that information is available in VBR as far as I understand your question.
To help you, I have some questions
1) do you use backup-to-tape or file-to-tape?
2) what is your schedule?
3) which backup would be your monthly backup?
Best regards,
Hannes

well, in that case I would just keep them. It's less workand destroy the rest?

Re: Generating a specific backup tape report?
Thanks Hannes. We are trying to move to a different tape storage facility which has a cost associated with the number of tapes stored, which is why we are trying to reduce how many tapes we store.
As for your questions:
1. mostly backup to tape, some file to tape for older backups.
2. Twice a month
3. The last backup of the month would be the monthly backup.
Thanks!!

Hello,
ok, then you should see the tapes that are used on specific days in home -> backups -> tape -> properties of the tape jobs. Sort by date and remove the ones you do not need anymore.
Best regards,
Hannes

Sweet!! Just what I am looking for, thank you.
Any idea if it's possible to get that data in text form? The path can be copied I see, but not the tape numbers.

Hello wa15,
I'd recommend checking Veeam One Backups on Tape report, looks like it is exactly what you need. Cheers!
