GFS backup to tape jo starts whitin hour after created

Hy!

I configured a GFS backup to tape job yesterday in 4:15pm. I checked that the GFS backup to tape job starts at 5:00pm automatically, but the GFS daily scan set to 10:30am. I read this article:

"If you use the Daily media set, after creating or enabling a tape job it will be started within an hour even if the scheduled start time has already passed."

I understand, there is a technical works, but I don't understand the why question? So why start the GFS backup to tape job within an hour? What is the goal with it?

Hello Adam,

This delay was made to deal with overlapping schedules of other jobs that might be working constantly (such as mirror mode in the backup copy). However, I do agree that it looks strange, so we will discuss possible improvements with RnD folks. Thank you for your post!
