how can use FLR for restore a specific file that reside on tape

Hi

I have get backup from my vmdk files and send this vmdk file to tape now i need some files from this vmdk file now i want use FLR from a backup file that has been resided on the tape now want to know how can restore a specific file from a backup file that hast resided on tape?

Hello Babak,

You run vSphere, right? If so, the process is described in that User Guide.

There is a chance I got your question incorrectly. If so, please specify, what backup job type it was originally and which one you used to send the backup to tape.

in the first step i have create a vbk backup from my vm and then create another job Backup to tape now vbk file has resided on tape
but now while choose Restore file from tape it just shows .vbk file but i need some file in my os that contain in .vbk file
such as FLR that can restore a specific file from .vbk or vib

How you created the "vbk backup"? It should be possible to restore this .vbk to your repository, then perform FLR from it.

Is that your means in first step had to restore my backup file in repository then use FLR ?
because i want use directly FLR for vbk file that resided on tape drive. because i have removed vbk file from repository and it is just on tape drive

Yes, you should restore the backup to your repository first, then perform FLR.
