Re: how to compress backup on tape
Hi moh
Welcome to the forums.
If you write veeam backup files to the tape, then tape compression doesn‘t bring you any benefits. Veeam backup files is already compressed data.
Thanks
Fabian

Helping over the forum is not easy because we don‘t have access to your environment.
I‘m missing information about the size if your full backup and incremental backups. Then the job settings are required to give a recommendation.
If you think, there is an technical issue, please open a support case and provide the case number.
Thanks
Fabian

Re: how to compress backup on tape
It's been a few years since I used tape, but I used to use a similar loader to that - so this is all from memory and may be subject to bitrot.
If there's a setting to eject the tape after the backup completes - don't use it if you want the tape to fill completely.
If you're telling the tapes to export after the job - you'll likely have the same issue.
Easy but sort of avoiding the problem - If you're having problems fitting all your backups on tape - add more tapes. If you're using tape there's a good chance that some of those tapes should be out of the library and probably securely rotated offsite anyway.
