Hello,

a customer wants to have incremental backup to tape jobs and each week one full backup tapeout (size:170TB).
I read, that there is an option of a virtual tape out to build a syntetic full of the incremental tapes.
Is the tape media pool accessible to tapejobs while the virtual tape out jobs? Is it possible to build a syntetic full on tape, meanwhile backup jobs save to the tape media pool?

here is an option of a virtual tape out to build a syntetic full of the incremental tapes

Virtual full backup is a part of backup to tape jobs (and GFS to tape jobs) for forever incremental source backup files.

Is it possible to build a syntetic full on tape, meanwhile backup jobs save to the tape media pool?

Yes. If there is an overlap with a schedule tape job can wait for the source files being unlocked according to the waiting times specified in the job’s settings.
