Hi,
We are running on Veeam B&R Enterprise 11 with Machine to Disk and Disk to Tape backups. We are encrypting the tape backups within the media pool, which is working fine. The password for encrypting the backups was set once and has never been touched since. We would like to enter the decryption key manually in order to simulate a complete loss of the backup system during a restore drill. Is there any way to provide the decryption key with in Veeam manually? Obviously, one could remove the encryption key from the system but I would rather only do that after I am 100% sure we have the right decryption key.
Looking forward to any hints, thanks!

Re: Manually Decrypt Tape-Backups
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
For today, the recommendation for this would be to use a clean VBR server (same like for backup to disk). If you have Enterprise Manager installed (there is a warning if you don't have), then you can always create recovery keys with Enterprise Manager. In future you could use a Key Management server (KMIP support comes with 12.1) and eliminate that challenge completely.
Best regards,
Hannes
