Migrating disk backups to Tape

Post by knowlesy » Jun 02, 2016 12:48 pm

On initial configuration of the Veeam box I have inherited backups were set to reverse incremental to keep up to 365 points. However no tapes or offsite was configured / setup. I now have 20/30TB of data I really would like to palm off onto Tape. How would I go about pushing all the data in the repos to tape, is it just a case of backup up the repo, but then does it clear out said repo or do I have to change the expiration points ?

Cheers

Hello and welcome to the community!
If you just want to move backup files to tape you can leverage "file to tape" job and delete the files from disk repository if you don`t need them there.
If you want to copy only latest restore points (.vbk) for existing backup jobs as well as new VM backups to tape once they appear on disk, "backup to tape" job is your option.
So could you clarify your ultimate goal? Thanks!
