NetApp NDMP account permissions

Hello all. I'm in the process of setting up NDMP to tape backups with our NetApp storage. The Veeam docs say to use an account with administrator permissions. My storage folks tried to set up an account for us giving what they said was admin priv but when we try to connect we get an NDMP 4 error which is likely permissions. Doe anyone here know more specifically what connection method (ssh, console, etc) Veeam is needing? The docs and help are very vague.

As a test we added the root account credentials and Veeam is able to connect, see volumes, perform a backup, etc but we're hesitant to use that account for our live backups.

Can you please check if the mentioned user is a part of backup operator's group of NetApp? Thank you!

Should it be? The original account they set up was and didn't work. My admin is gone for the day so I'll check tomorrow but they told me earlier they used this command to create the last account we tried.

> security login create -user-or-group-name backup_admin1 -application ssh
-authmethod password -role backup

I've noticed that backup operator group helps in several cases since it has predefined set of permissions. Here is a good article that explains NDMP user creation in details, can you please check with your admin if all conditions are met? Cheers!
