Offline Tapes-Bringing them Online
I have tapes that were automatically sent to the vault, and by design, they go "offline". Now that the data are expired, I would like to bring them online so that they can be re-used. Unfortunately, all selections (inventory, catalog, restore content, copy, verify, export, eject, erase) are all greyed out. Their "location" is 'offline'. How do I go about bringing these tapes online? What am I missing here?

Re: Offline Tapes-Bringing them Online
Hi Joel
A tape is offline when it is not in your tape library or tape drive/standalone tape drive.
To get them online again, you have to put them back into the library or your tape drive. This has to be done outside of veeam.
Then you can rescan your tape library or use the import function in case they are in the mail slot:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
This should get the tapes online again.
Thanks
Fabian

If you are using VTL’s (Virtual Tape Libraries), you will need to recall the tape from the vault. Usually, this is done by logging into the console for the service, performing a retrieval, import into Veeam and marking them for reuse as @mildur mentioned.
The one caveat to watch out for is that there can be a delay of x hours depending on the service before the tape is available for use.
The other option is to add new Tapes and delete the others if no longer needed. Again, this mostly applies to Virtual Tapes.
Cheers,
Dipen

To bring the tapes back online, you need to first move them from the "offline" location to an active location in the system, which will enable you to access and use the available options such as inventory, catalog, restore content, copy, verify, export, eject, and erase.Mildur wrote: ↑Oct 14, 2022 6:54 pm Hi Joel
