Hi Community
Does anyone has experience with that "Quantum Converged Tape Appliance for Veeam" (https://www.quantum.com/en/products/tap ... tape-veeam) ?
Is it possible to have a mix of LTO7 and LTO8 Tape-Drives in the library?
Is the backup dataflow through the network connection of the iBlade or like before directly through every Tape-Drive in the Library?
Thanks
Joerg

Hello Joerg,
With such library you can install Veeam Tape Server role directly to it since its bundled with Windows Server.

It will work, but you must split media of multiple generations between two separate media pools within Veeam B&R console. Is it possible to have a mix of LTO7 and LTO8 Tape-Drives in the library?
It depends on how the repository is connected to tape device. If you use the bundled Windows server as a repository and mount disks from your storage directly to it - then data flow will be isolated within this Quantum device. Cheers! Is the backup dataflow through the network connection of the iBlade or like before directly through every Tape-Drive in the Library?

Re: Quantum Converged Tape Appliance for Veeam
Hello Dima
Thank you for your answer and first Q&A is understood.
Second Q&A I'm not so sure, let me explain the scenario I'm having in my head.
All the Tapedrives in that Scalar i3 library have no SAS connection to anywhere, the 'bundled Windows server' is connected to our 10Gb network and has the veeam tape server feature installed.
The source repository for the 'Backup to Tape' job is connected via iSCSI to a dedicated vSphere VM.
Does that make sense?
Would that scenario work?
Thanks

Re: Quantum Converged Tape Appliance for Veeam
Today I talked to a Quantum technician about the iBlade "bundled Windows server" and I got a better picture now.
The tape drives are connected to the iBlade server with a short SAS or FC cable. In the end, it is as having a physical server on its own.
I guess this answered my question.
