I have 2 fairly powerful physical servers (16 cores with 64GB RAM Each) with local storage as repositories. I am setting up a new tape library for use with Veeam. Is it OK to set up one of the repositories to also function as the Tape server? Or is it better to have a stand alone tape server? I was thinking maybe it would be better to have it on a repository as then half my backups would not have to traverse the network.
Also, as a follow up, is it difficult to move the tape server function in the future? For example, if I have to connect tape to existing repository now but want to move to stand-alone tape server later?
Thanks.

Re: Repository as Tape Server?
Absolutely OK - many of our customers are using the very same approach. Thanks!
