Sorting in Media Pool does not work as expected
Hi,
I have a small but very annoying thing: The sorting of table columns in some views does not work as expected.
E.g. in Tape Infrastructure / Media Pools / Media Pool
or in Tape Infrastructure / Libraries / Media / Offline
it is not possible to sort the Tapes meaningful. I want to sort the tapes by timestamp, which would be the column "Media Set". But when sorting by this column, the column is not interpreted as a timestamp, but as a String!
E.g. when sorting ascending it is sorted in the following way:
"Media Set 01.05.2016"
"Media Set 01.06.2016"
"Media Set 02.05.2016"
"Media Set 02.06.2016"
...although it should be sorted in that way:
"Media Set 01.05.2016"
"Media Set 02.05.2016"
"Media Set 01.06.2016"
"Media Set 02.06.2016"
This should really be easy to fix...
Best Regards,

Re: Sorting in Media Pool does not work as expected
Hi!
The problem is in Media Sets sorting, not Media Pools. This is a known behaviour and will be fixed in one of our upcoming releases. As a workaround you may name your media sets as suggested by default - 'Media set # %id% %date%', so they would be sorted correctly by id and thus, by date automatically.

Re: Sorting in Media Pool does not work as expected
The sorting by sequence number within a media set is not so nice too.
e.g.:
Media Set Sequence Number
Media Set 01.05.2016 2
Media Set 01.05.2016 1
Media Set 01.05.2016 5
Media Set 01.05.2016 3
Media Set 01.05.2016 4
As I can see, it is sorted by nothing.
Is this a "known behaviour" too and will be fixed ?
e.g.:
Media Set Sequence Number
Media Set 01.05.2016 2
Media Set 01.05.2016 1
Media Set 01.05.2016 5
Media Set 01.05.2016 3
Media Set 01.05.2016 4

If you insert %id% before date (as it shown in my example) media sets will be sorted properly.

Re: Sorting in Media Pool does not work as expected
That was not my question.
We have only one media set (not matter what name it got).
Within this media set we have 5 tapes (Sequence Numbers).
The sorting of tapes in this one media set should be ascending by sequence numer (1-5),
or at least ascending by tape names or (better) configurable.
Now it is at random (or something I can not see)

I can confirm that. Sorting by sequence number is not possible. When sorting by media set, the sequence number seems to be random.

Mike, sorry, I got it wrong first. So you are expecting for kinda advanced sorting. Thanks, that's an Interesting and new idea, we should think about implementing it.

Without this "advanced" sorting, displaying the column "sequence number" is not really useful.kinda advanced sorting
