still no media type assignment to tape drives?
Hi,
We have a single MSL4048 library with four drives in it: two LTO-6 and two LTO-7 drives. And we use different media types of course: LTO-5 to LTO-7. I still can't find a way to tell the LTO-6 drives not to use LTO-7 medias nor the LTO-7 drives not to write LTO-5 medias. The (not so) beloved Backup Exec can do this since ages. I can assign bar code suffixes to media types there and media types to drives (read and/or write).
No, library partitioning is not an option.
Could you please add this to Veeam?
Thanks

No changes in v10. That's really annoying.

Christian,
From the tape management perspective you can split tape media between multiple media pools based on it's generation. And we use different media types of course: LTO-5 to LTO-7
Any chance you tape device support logical partitioning? You can create two logical tape partitions based on drive generation and use those partitions with corresponding media pools. Cheers!I still can't find a way to tell the LTO-6 drives not to use LTO-7 medias nor the LTO-7 drives not to write LTO-5 medias.

Dima,
As I wrote above: library partitioning is not an option. It has too many disadvantages and is simply annoying. That's why I'm asking my question to Veeam since years.
