Swapped tape drive in library, now drive is displayed twice in Veeam GUI
Hi,
I opened support case 03999135 just now, but since you guys are alway so responsive, I am posting my issue here as well.
I needed to swap a tape drive in our Dell TL2000 library. After doing this, within the Tape Infrastructure tab of Veeam B&R, the drive is listed twice, once as part of the library (with the list of online/offline tapes), and once as its own library.
I am not sure if https://www.veeam.com/kb1842 is the proper procedure to fix this. I am also not sure if the registry value to add is on the tape server, or Veeam server (I am assuming the Veeam server, but am not sure).
The device in question, Drive 1 (Drive ID: Tape0), is listed under the tape library, along with the 2nd drive, online, offline and protected tapes.
However, it is also listed as its own library, with no drives or media.
The dump of the Veeam tape remote access service is:
<Devices><Drive SerialNumber="90WT077089" DeviceName="Tape0" Name="IBM ULT3580-HH7" SymbolicLink="\\.\Tape0"><Address Lun="0" TargetId="6" PathId="0" PortNumber="2" /><BlockSizes DefaultBlockSize="65536" MinimumBlockSize="1" MaximumBlockSize="1048576" /></Drive><Drive SerialNumber="10WT005728" DeviceName="Tape1" Name="IBM ULT3580-HH7" SymbolicLink="\\.\Tape1"><Address Lun="0" TargetId="6" PathId="0" PortNumber="3" /><BlockSizes DefaultBlockSize="65536" MinimumBlockSize="1" MaximumBlockSize="1048576" /></Drive></Devices>
Any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated. I need to re-run all my tape jobs, which failed this weekend due to the failed drive, but do not want to start them until this is resolved.
Thanks,

Hello,
I would not do it without support. I no logs attached to the case. So it's very unlikely that support will give you a quick answer.
Best regards,
Hannes

Thanks,
I didn't generate logs since it the issue is not related to a specific backup job or VM, but will do so if it may speed things along.

Yep, please, collect debug logs and attach them to the existing case. Thanks!

Just to follow up with this forum. The issue actually resolved itself after a tape job ran.
What I most likely did was neglect to scan the tape server via the Veeam B&R tape infrastructure pane.
I didn't think this would be necessary, since the new drive was showing up, just not properly.
