Tape backups & encryption
I noticed that my tape backups are taking a very long time to complete, and I realized that we enabled encryption for the media pools. I was wondering, how much overhead will encryption add to the tape jobs?

Re: Tape backups & encryption
Ed, there's indeed some encryption overhead when backing up to tape with v8 (while for backups, for example, performance hit from enabling encryption is not so noticeable). This, however, will be significantly improved in v9.
Do you probably have traffic encryption enabled as well?

P.S. Might be caused by hardware encryption if there is any enabled on you device, worth checking the setup.

And by hardware compression as well, if any is available in tape job settings; so, it's worth checking those. Thanks.
