Hi guys,
I'm now in process of evaluating latest Veeam 9.5 version and have some problems with automation of tapes insertion/removal.
Currently we are utilizing BE15 and it is configured as described below.
We have weekly, monthly and yearly mediasets configured with some overwrite protection periods (4weeks, 51weeks, never overwrite) and append period (2 days).
So 2 days after tape is used it is ready to be moved to vault. BE is configured to send notifications to external company to remove tapes from library.
And the same happens for tape retrieval from vault. If overvrite protection period on a tape has expired an e-mail is sent to external company to instert tape to library.
I tried to figure out what would be the best way to implement similar config with Veeam. Already configured media pools and media vaults. But can't figure out how to automate tapes exchange with external company. Do you have any proposal? Maybe someone already faced this problem and already solved it in some way?

Re: Tape insertion/removal automation
I found out that there is VeeamOne 'Tape Media Retention Period' report to get all tapes that are expired and should be returned from vault.
Is there similar report for all tapes that were used in last 2-3 days and should be exported from library?
We plan to duplicate backup data to tapes (Firday-Sunday) and would like to export tapes from library after that.

Re: Tape insertion/removal automation
Take a look at GFS Media Pools and GFS tape jobs.We have weekly, monthly and yearly mediasets configured with some overwrite protection periods (4weeks, 51weeks, never overwrite)
VBR does not have similar append period. You specify if you want your media to be appendable or not and then export it on a specific date (or immediately)So 2 days after tape is used it is ready to be moved to vault. BE is configured to send notifications to external company to remove tapes from library.
For every tape job you can configure email notifications and send the reports to the desired email address. But can't figure out how to automate tapes exchange with external company.
Yup. Looks like this is the one you need.VeeamOne 'Tape Media Retention Period' report to get all tapes that are expired and should be returned from vault.
