Tape Repo Migration
Hi, is it possible to perform a backup to tape job from a repo on a different B&R server. We plan to migrate our jobs from serverA to serverB but will not be migrating the tape server to serverB until the last job has been migrated. We have added serverB as a managed server but the jobs on serverB are not shown on the list and the repo on serverB is listed but the size is 0B. To achieve a tape backup from serverA repo and serverB repo would we need to perform a copy job to the tape server. Is there a more elegant solution ?

Hello,
you could use "file to tape". That copies every file. But it's less comfortable than with jobs. A backup server can only see his own jobs. Jobs of other backup servers are completely independent.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Tape Repo Migration
Hi HannesK,
I'm trying to wrap my head around this. So if I use file to tape jobs, and copy VM's from a Repo to TAPE, everything works good and I can add it back to the repo.
Are you saying if my server goes bad, I couldn't restore these if I reinstall Veeam as "A backup server can only see his own jobs?"

Hi HannesK, this looks like it could be a workaround for us, I can see the backup files on serverBs repo with a file to tape job.

FlatWhite: thanks, good to hear!

I said, that a backup server can only see it's own jobs. Two backup servers don't know about jobs, that are running on the other server. So one cannot select jobs from another server in the "backups to tape job item selection".
you can always restore. Veeam backup files are self-contained. Just run inventory and restore. But that's independent from the question here...
