Tape restore options

We're still in our test phase with Veeam and continue investigating our backup/restore options.

Our intention is to backup our VM's to Disk - having tested brick level restore this works fine from what I can see.

What I would like to know is if I backup these VM backup files to tape, if needbe could I restore direct from tape (e.g. VM or individual exchange or guest Windows files)?

At the moment it's not possible to restore directly from tape. In either case (be it VM or granular item restore) you have to restore full backup to disk first. Thanks.
