Are Veeam ever going to include writing to SDLT ?
I know only LTO drives are supported for the time being.

You are correct, xDLT is not supported by Veeam Backup and Replication and as far as I know it`s not in the immediate future plans.
However, more feedback we have, more probability we`ll consider going that direction, so thanks for the feedback!
