This seems to happen every time

Post by digitlman »

I put a tape in Slot 2, run the Inventory. When it is complete, Veeam ejects the tape into Slot 1, or any other slot than the slot the tape originated from.

This is on V9 update 2.

Now I have to log into the tape library's web interface and move the tape back to Slot 2 (because I don't want to walk all the way back to the server room).

I re-inventory, and the tape is returned to Slot 2 like it is supposed to.

Very annoying!

Is your library slot assignment set to random? If it's a Dell TL you might be able to disable that feature on the library itself and see if it puts it back where it found it. Otherwise, Veeam feature. :D

Indeed, VBR uses the native library logic here. As far as I remember, some libraries may not properly react on return to original slot operation, thus we have this KB article with the proposed workaround.
