Hi I'm running a tape job that copies the full backups of 4 other jobs to tape
1 of these jobs is quite large (a few TB) the others are quite small.
I have a library with 2 drives and when the tape job starts it uses both drives with 1 of the original 4 jobs on each drive.
so far so good.
However, when the 3 small jobs have finished the 4th (large) job continues running using only 1 drive for the remaining job.
How do I get it to utilize the 2nd tape drive also as soon as it becomes available?
The large job #4 consists of 2 large physical source drives to backup, at the moment the other jobs are finished it is still processing the first source disk, how do I get it to backup the second disk to the free tape drive? (instead of waiting until the first disk is finished and then continuing on the same drive and tape as it does now)

Re: Using multiple tapedrives in a single job for a single server.
Hello Jacques
Welcome to the forum.
Tape parallel processing is either "per tape job" or "per backup chain":

Are those physical source drives from the same machine and protected by the same backup job? In that case you will have a single backup chain and only 1 tape drive will be used. The large job #4 consists of 2 large physical source drives to backup,

so the only way to get parallel processing is to create separate jobs for each disk on the (single) VM?

Re: Using multiple tapedrives in a single job for a single server.
Correct.
Two source backup jobs for the same machine will create two independent backup chains.
Which will allow you to write 2 tapes simultaneously.
Best,
Fabian
