hi
External usb 3.0 hdd, ntfs formated with compression enabled, connected directly to veeam v9 via blue usb 3.0 port with blue usb cable, bla bla. SAS tape connection to host. Job have enabled compression and encryption.
As you can see on picture, speed drop from 40 to 7mb/s. After some time speed go again to 40mb/s or more. Why is here this anomalies in transfer speed?
I have new job, new tape, same parameters and again drop in transfer speed. Very strange?!

Re: v9 - Files to tape - a sudden drop in speed!?
folerx,
You`ve got more than half a million of files to copy, are all of them approximately of the same size or some are bigger than others.
The thing is file to tape job copies small number of big files faster than huge number of small files.
Thanks

Re: v9 - Files to tape - a sudden drop in speed!?
Yes, i know that bigger files have better speed. Files all are almost the same. But why job run some time with good speed and than drop? So file size or number of files is not reason. Or why after slow speed we have again good speed?
Will try to connect hdd direct onto sata port in motherboard and report back.

Re: v9 - Files to tape - a sudden drop in speed!?
Hello Daniel,
You can check the exact reason with the support team. Unfortunately, File to tape job engine is not optimized for a such number of source files in the existing version and slow performance is expected. This situation will be fixed in the upcoming major release. But why job run some time with good speed and than drop?
