Veeam VSB to Tape
Hi Community
I do a forever incremental backup with 31 retention point with copy job to a second location.
I'm looking for a possibility to create a "point-in-time" fullbackup of every last saturday to copy this data to tape. I can't do an additional full backup because the data to transport is too large.
As I understand it right I can solve this with this VSB option? Is that correct?
If I try it I will get the following error messages:
- Unknown MFT writer
- Failed to backup some full backup files, skipping the corresponding incremental backups
- Error with Processing incremental backup of %JOB%
Am I totaly wrong with this scenario?
regards,
Simon

Hello Simon,
Just to clarify you want to use an original backup job as a source or backup copy?

Hi Dmitry
I would like to open a support case if I'm sure that I can do this like I would .
The source is a backup copy job - is this possible?
regards,
Simon

Hi Dmitry
ok i solved the MTF Writer status with your support - not it works. But for me it isn't complete clear what the VSB is...
If you read this: http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/80/v ... _full.html --> watching the last picture, copy this job the last vbk with all vibs to tape or make this job a "new" vbk on the scheduled day? I tested it and it looks like the job copies vbk and vib to tape?
regards,
Simon

Re: Veeam VSB to Tape
VSB allows you to create a full backup directly on tapes using existing forward forever incremental backup chain. As of now it requires "process incremental" option being enabled, as the result, you see both full and increments being copied.
However, we're going to fix that in the upcoming update 2. Starting from that moment, "process incremental" option won't be required any longer for VSB to work.
Thanks.
