Hello,
There's been a rash of cryptolocker attacks recently that has been going around deleting backups and replicated backups. We're looking at tape backups to create cold copies. However I'm wondering if the VBR server is lost is the data on the tape still retriaviable?

Re: What happens to Tape backups if the VBR server is lost?
Hi Mike,
As far as I know, you just need to reinstall Veeam on a clean server and catalog the tapes and you should be fine.

Harvey is right. You can import all the previously written tape to new backup server and restore without any issues. The only drawback is that catalog process will take much time, so I recommend taking configuration backup of your Veeam B&R database just in case.
