Agent backups of cluster nodes is confused by the roles?

Post by HiHoItsOffToWorkWeGo »

Although we're successfully backing up a Windows File Server Failover Cluster using the Veeam agent, the VBR server appears confused about the File Server ROLES present within the cluster, and regularly reports processing errors associated with the deployment of agents onto the roles. The GUI appears to prevent us from adding the roles to the exclusion list. What's the correct way of handling this, other than to ignore the "Error" emails?
In this example screenshot below, the "CONTOSO-VM1" represents the cluster node (the VM), whereas CONTOSO-FS01 represents a Windows Failover Clustered "File Server" ROLE that runs on either VM within the cluster.

Update: I was able to resolve this by removing the CONTOSO-FS01 and CONTOSO-FS02 roles from the Protection Group, and then adding these roles to the exclusions list of the protection group.
