Today I tried a recovery test by using the USB recovery media.
All my drives on my Windows 10 Pro Computer are encrypted by Bitlocker.
After booting into bare metal recovery I tried to unlock the encrypted drives first, but my password was rejected - I also tried the numeric Bitlocker recovery key. I recreated a new USB recovery media. No success at all.
The same bitlocker password and recovery keys are working for normal Windows start. (I have to enter them after Bios before Windows is loading) I enabled the TPM 2.0 module on my B550 motherboard a few month ago, so a part of the key system should be stored in the systems TPM, maybe that's the problem?
Any ideas how I get this to work?

Re: Bare metal recovery - can't unlock bitlocker drive
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
If your password does not work, then I guess a keyboard layout issue. See the "EN" or whatever it is on the bottom left. If that's not the case, please contact support and post the case number for reference.
Best regards,
Hannes

Just to be clear, you ran into the "destination volume is protected by bitlocker" question?I tried to unlock the encrypted drives first

Re: Bare metal recovery - can't unlock bitlocker drive
I think there a/were several problems:
I have 3 drives in my computer:
Drive 1 contains the operating system.
Drive 3 the daily Veeamgent backup
Drive 1 was protected by a Bitlocker Password
Drives 2 and 3 were unlocked automatically by bitlocker - they didn't have their own password.
After assigning a password for drives 2 and 3 I was able to unlock them in bare metal recovery mode and select the backup file. But I still cannot unlock drive 1 (the backup destination drive) in bare metal recovery mode - the password is 100% correct. I use it every day several times to unlock the disk immediately after bios, there must be another problem. Is it even necessary to unlock the destination drive or will the partitions just be overwritten sector by sector during the restore process. (I didn't finish the last step "proceed backup" as this seemed to risky at this moment)

Hello,
from the link I posted above
Thanks,

if that does not work, please check with Veeam support.BitLocker encrypted volumes must be unlocked at the moment when you perform the restore operation.
Thanks,
Hannes
