Big backup size mdf files?
We got multiple backups running on different servers to a cloud storage.
Because they got databases on them it seems the backup every day is between 5-15GB.
This looks mainly because they got mdf files/databases on their server. I've already set guest processing on and used a username to truncate logs.
Is there any way to lower down the backup of those database files?
Too bad it's not possible to be sure it's the mdf files as you can't see what is in a daily backup.

Hello Vincent
A higher change rate with database files is expected.
Which backup mode (Volume or File level?) and which Agent version are you using for the backup?
Best,
Fabian

Re: Big backup size mdf files?
Thanks for the information.
I checked my lab and 5-15GB is not big on windows server where applications are running.
For the information about the skipped transaction log truncation, please make sure that permissions are set correctly for the MSSQL server. Maybe you have only databases in the simple recovery model, which doesn't require log truncating.
If correct permissions are set and your database is using Full recovery model, please check with our customer support why the log truncation is skipped.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Big backup size mdf files?
Oke thanks for the information. We moved to Veeam from Iaso and found out that veeam backups are way bigger per month as the iaso ones.
