Bitlocker Volumes Not In Selection List

Post by nchand »

Nice to see external USB drives are now available to be selected for backup, but I can't see mounted Bitlocker containers. Will this be possible as a file-level backup option?

Hello,
hello, yes that's a known limitation. No, file level selection is also not possible.

I also use that on my laptop... but except for you and me, there seem to be not many people doing that :-)

Best regards,
Hannes

Hm. Well that's unfortunate. I guess I am still stuck with a separate backup system for this server.

Any progress on this yet? I can even see the mounted bitlocker container as a VSS shadow copy, just can't use it as a file-level backup from Veeam agent as the drive letter does not show up for selection.

Hello,
We are talking about less than a hand full of requests on that globally (more or less you and me :-)) ... so chances are low for progress on that topic.

HannesK,

Are you using your bitlocker container on Windows Server, or Windows 10? I am using Windows Server 2012 R2, and this iSCSI solution worked so far for non-bitlocker containers. I can see the VHD in the selection list now. I am going to encyrpt it, and start this process from scratch to see if it works as well.

Windows 10 does not have iSCSI target role as an option. There may be some 3rd part tools that can do it, not sure.

I use it on Windows 10.

I don't have iSCSI in my setup, correct. But yes, the iSCSI way looks interesting for your setup 👍
