Copyjob in Veeam Agent for Windows

Post by mbjnet »

I've tried the new Veeam Agent 2.0 for Windows and it looks promising. I've hooked it on to our Cloud Connect repository and it just works. Very nice.
To make the product just perfekt, I suggest that you implement the copyjob feature. I mean, it would be just great, if I could make main backups to USB drives, and by having a copyjob, I could upload copies to a Cloud Connect repository as second backup destinations.
In other words, please make backup to multiple destinations possible.

Regars Michael Jakobsen.

Hello Michael,

Thank you for this feature request and your feedback! There is a workaround, thanks to configuration API. You can keep two separate job configurations and swap them according to the schedule. Check this post.

Ahhh dammit i just wrote a long response, but when I was about to submit it, I had to login again - and the whole response was lost!
But to make it short then... Will you implement the copyjob as a supported feature sometime soon? I've tested the workaround and i works just fine. I'm just not that much into implementing such things on our customers systems. We have a lot of customers who would benefit quite a lot from Veeam Agent, but for some first when multiple destinations becomes an integrated and supported feature.

Michael,

Thanks, and sorry to hear that your post was lost.

For VAW 2.0 you could use Veeam B&R Free with agent license as a workaround. Then you get backup copy and file to tape in addition to all restore features for agent backups.

Veeam Agent for Windows / Linux can be deployed in VBR FREE. As a result, you get:

- License management for all connected agents
- Backup to Veeam repository
- Backup copy jobs for agent backups
- File to tape
- Monitoring/reporting/throttling

Thanks Dima for clarification.

This sounds realy good. But I have two more questions.

1. Is it possible to mix Server-, Workstation- and Free-Licenses of VAW in a Envoirment with target to VBR Repo (Free or Paid)?

2. Is there a documentation about the Licensmanagement in VBR?

Greetings

No. VBR will accept only paid or only FREE agents, so there is no way to mix them within one VBR instance
Is there a documentation about the Licensmanagement in VBR?
Should be published close to VAW 2.0 GA
