I am a VCSP trying to provide DR for physical servers on the ground. I run a VMWare vSphere 6.0 backend. I've been hunting for an answer to this question, but I have yet to come across something....
If I backup a physical server with VAW, can I then add that backup set to a Replication Job and call a failover a replica of that server for DR? Is this possible with the bare metal backups sets created by VAW? I understand the BaaS offering, but can VAW provide a DRaaS solution for physical servers into the cloud?
Thanks in advance. -- Lee

Re: Failover of VAW backup replica for DRaaS
Hi Lee,
No, adding VAW backups to the replication is not supported, however I should admit that would be a smart workaround to use these backups as a source for the replication job.
If you want to have a DR plan for physical computers, then restoring VAW files as VM files and then importing them to the hypervisor should be a good workaround.
Thanks!
